Watercolour Dahlias

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to share with you all a card that I just 'CASed' (Copied and Stamped everything) off the beautiful Dawn McVey's Card. I just loved this when I saw it months ago, and as soon as I got my hands on the stamp set I gave it a try.

here's my version. I had to add some gold to it. Coz that's what I do…

I hope you like this, coz I love how it turned out :)

One more time!

OK, So I was a totally irresponsible housewife, and used my baby's nap time to craft (SHOCK HORROR!!!!!!!!!) But I am quite chuffed with what I've done, so I think that it's justified. So what if we eat fried eggs for dinner tonight? :oP

I will be entering this into the WPlus9 Watercolour Challenge, and if there is still time, even the step it up challenge….although I may be too late for that one :(

Ok, so here are my pics

I just love the Ikat pattern on the Backgrounds and Borders #1 set form Wplus9, and thought it leant itself well to the watercolour technique and i think it looks lovely in these soft colours.

As you can see- I spent a bit of time on my focal point! I first die cut some vellum with a Labels framelit from SU! and heat embossed the 'Happy' (Happiness in Bloom- PTI) in white. Then, i die cut the word 'birthday' (PTI- birthday trio) from some scrap cardstock, covered it entirely in versamark ink and dunked it into my gold embossing powder. When I heat set it- it looked like this!
I then adhered the die cut word onto the vellum with glossy accents.

Then, I got some dimensional adhesive/ foam tape and placed it on the back of the vellum, but only in the areas directly behind the word die cut- this way, you can't see any of the foam tape. Before adhering the vellum/die feature to the stamped panel, I bunched up a whole lotta white thread in a random kind of way, and then stuck the whole lot down at once.

Now, I wasn't sure about how I felt about the thread being so random and all… but I think that's kind of the point. And you'd think then, that I would stop there with the randomness- but then the doorbell rang. And it was the delivery man with my latest crafty order…containing my new Faber Castell Gold gelatos! And I just had to try this splatter technique with them! So I did! And now I am wondering if I went too far with the randomness?! Coz I liked the card before the splatters…and I kind of like it now too- but I am not sure. I guess I like control, and I need to learn to let go a bit, and try new things. What do you think? Do you control your splatters? Hahahah!!! How weird does that sound!

Anyway, I hope you likey

WPlus9 Watercolour Challenge

Hey everyone,
Today I am trying to get trendy with some watercolour! The amazing Dawn from WPlus9 added this challenge on her blog, and I just had to participate, because I love the Watercolour trend. I made some changes though, becasue I didn't have a mister of anysort…so I just ran a baby wipe under the tap, so it was super soaked, then dropped some reinkers onto it, and inked up my stamp on the baby wipe. And that's how I got my images to look water coloured.
Here is the card I made using my Backgrounds and Borders stamp set from WPlus9- I love that Ikat image…and I thought it would look nice with a watercolour effect added.

What do you think?

I think those ikat trio diamonds kinda look like party streamers.

I stamped the senitment (from PTI) in gold- I think I should have embossed it now, on second thought…But it's kind of nice in a subtle kind of way.
Am loving this technique- I may make a few more cards like this. Maybe one with a rainbow colour scheme…Ok, I better get to it before the littley wakes from her nap!

I hope you likey,

Word Focal Point card- PTI Day #6 celebrations

Hi everyone,

I'm chiming in with another card that I quickly whipped up using my as-yet-unused Birthday Trio dies that I got on my last PTI order.
This card was influenced by this card by May that was highlighted on the PTI Facebook page last week as one of the entries for the Make it Monday competition. I loved it and thought I could use it as my inspiration for this card.
I had a bit of cardstock that I had begun stamping on…and I just didn't like my stamping- lucky I kept it. I used that piece of cardstock to die cut the word birthday out of, and voila!

As you can see, I first die cut the 'birthday' out of some melon mambo cardstock and then popped up the stamped birthday on some foam adhesive.

Hope you like it!

PS- I am also entering this card into the Wplus9  Step it Up challenge.

Timer Challenge PTI 7th Anniversary Celebrations

Hi All,
Happy new Year and I hope that it's been a good one so far for all of you.
Today I am entering this card into the timer challenge over at PTI- and a timer challenge is what I need on a day like today where I have a hundred odd jobs around the place that need doing and I don't have much time to do them! HA!

So my 7 items were: Calypso coral cardstock, white cardstock, Everyday happiness stamps, Tipped Tops die, Gold ink, SU! patterned paper and sequins! Seven items and it took me 15 minutes to make this card.

Hope you like it and good luck to all the other contestants!!!

Edited: I am also submitting this in the Day #6 challenge- Word Focal points
