Make it Monday #108- Inked backgrounds

Hello all!

I know I've been MIA for the last few weeks, but lots has been going on the the Stanley Household with my Dad visiting from overseas and the ensuing partying....have had no time for my favourite hobby :) But when I saw this week's make it monday challenge, i knew I had to participate since it reminded me of a technique that I've been dying to try out since I saw it here. Yes, once again the AMAAAAAAAAAYYYZZZZZIIIINNNNGGG Betsy Veldman has inspired me. Tell ya, I just love everything that lady makes. Am doing an online card class at the moment, and part of the reason I signed up was because I knew Betsy was going to be one of the guest designers!

Betsy showcases Bokeh-Inspired stamping which follows the photographic technique of using out of focus lighting in the background to create gorgeous effects. Here are a few of my favourite examples:

If you click on the link to Besty's blog post, you can see the wonderful cards she's made inspired by bokeh.

So, here is my card- with an inked background and 'Bokeh' inspired stamping!

I really enjoyed seeing this card come together, and it was so much fun to make! There's something real satisfying about knowing that that main panel of cardstock started out white and now it's completely transformed :)

Hope you likey!

Hugs with Buttons

Hi everyone,

Just a quick entry to show you a cute little one layer card I made using more of my new PTI and Waltzingmouse Stamps stamps.

Here I used a little colour combo that I found on an old colour combo challenge on the PTI blog. I tried to get a pic of the actual post, but cant find it right now- anyway- the colours were kraft, melon berry, spring moss and fine linen.

I have none of those inks...so I made do using my fab Stampin Up colours. I stamps on Very Vanilla Cardstock using Crumbcake, Calypso Coral (stamped off once) and Certainly Celery.

The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse stamps and it's called 'Say it Loud'. I LOOOOOOOOOVE this sentiment stamp set. The font is so pretty and it has lots of little add-ons to further personalise your message. *eeeee* it makes me happy.

Here's the card- I hope you like it

Have a good Saturday, people!

Papertrey Ink- Make it Monday #106

Hi Everyone,

We are back form a lovely vacation in New Zealand, and I have just received my latest Papertrey Ink order :) It took every ounce of strength not to ink up those stamps the second they entered my house, but I managed to save the moment for later that night, when Miss 9months was alseep and hubby was at soccer and I had the house all to myself!
Needless to say I was in heaven!

OK- This week Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday video was about two toned flowers. Here's the video:

And here's my card!

The theme was two toned flowers, and I decided to use my new Stitches and Swirls stamp set. I also used the Counting my Blessings stamp set and die. Don't you love the look of that word popped up on coloured card?

To make the stamped part of the sentiment stand out, I stamped it onto some pink card which was cut into a banner. I also added three pink rhinestones to accent the end of the banner.

Here is a pic of the inside:

I think this would make a great Mother's day card :)

Hope you like it!
