Congratulations- Scrapbook Boutique January Blog Hop

Hi All,
Today I am entering the Scrapbook Boutique Blog Hop and Challenge for the first time! I have wanted to play a long for the longest time, but for one reason or the other, always missed out. Not today!

Here is the delicious inspiration photo:

Love mint green, and I haven't used pearl anything in a while, so I was excited to give this challenge a go.

And here is my take on the inspiration

This card looks very pretty in real life, but is a bit of a shocker to photograph! So here are some more pics where I had to hold the card up to the light. It was the only way to catch that gorgeous shimmer.

I really love this look. it is soft and romantic for a wedding card (like this one) but can also be adapted for other occasions like a baby or even a sympathy card just by switching out the sentiment.

Four Feathers Watercolour Card with a VIDEO

Hi All!

Today I have made a card for the Virginia's View Challenge- A Clean Slate.

And although my card is NOT one layer- It is quite simple in design and DOES have a lot of white space- so I'm hoping that it qualifies? (pretty please Virginia?:) Well, even if it doesn't I will be making some more entries because I am on summer holidays and I can!  Woo hoo! 

I have popped up the entire front panel, leaving a little strip that exposes the heat embossed sentiment on the black card base underneath.

I have also made a video for those of you who want to procrastinate I MEAN!!… for those who want to learn…who want to learn ;) And there is plenty to learn from in my video... *facepalm* ( I am NOT tooting my own horn, by the way- watch the video and find out)

Happy New Year! and MIM in Review 2014

Hi Everyone!

Happy New Year to all of you! I'm not one for New year resolutions.. but this year, I have been struck by the inspiration fairy (not literally, obviously…...- she just waved her wand in my general direction) and I have made quite a few. To eat healthier, to move more, to not feel bad about doing things for myself every so often….and this includes crafting! I have decided that I WILL find time to craft at least once a week, and blog about it.

And so, I begin!

Here is my first card for 2015. I am playing along at Nichole Heady's blog for the Make it Monday in Review. We could choose any 2014 MIM video we liked, and create something to suit. I didn't get to play along with Laura Bassen's camouflaged die cuts a few weeks ago, and so I thought I would give it a go!

So here it is

I have just realised that I am running very late for my nail appointment (see? doing things for myself!) So I will make this ending abrupt!

Virginia's View Challenge #9- Metallics

Hi everyone,



Today I have made a very simple card for the Virginia's View Challenge on metallics! I felt right at home here, because I put gold on E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G… So I have a feeling I will be adding more cards to this challenge.

But here is my card!

Really simple, but oh-so-pretty in real life.

And I made a video… Just thought I'd throw that in there. There is nothing ground breaking here…just a test, really to see how I go with shooting a vid on my phone. Please excuse the awkward voiceover, my daughter making noise in the BG, my phone going off, random shots of the top of my head.  So watch if you really have nothing else to do…

Some Christmas cards

Hey all,

Just thought I would share with you some of the Christmas cards I have made for this year. Some will be sold at church for a fundraising stall, and the others will be handed out!

 This one was made using the Seasonally Scattered set from SU! as well as some alphabet stamps from PTI. The wood veneer stars are from Studio Calico (so cute!)

 Gotta love some shimmer!

And becasue my hubby (as well as some of my FB likers) reckoned that the previous card may be too black for Xmas, I tried a different approach. Really like this look too!

 

And just incase you prefer something much lighter and brighter, here's another take altogether.

Now, I have been meaning to get my hands on the Beautiful Blessings: Holiday set from PTI for aaaages, and I finally got it this year- I just love it. Such beautiful verses.

 And I also made this fun one using the Holiday Home and Happiest of Holidays stamp sets.

PTI- October Blog Hop

I love a non-traditional Christmas Colour Combo. Hands up if you think red and green don't really look good together. Okay, I know branches of holly, or poinsettas etc are naturally occurring examples of red and green, and that is excused…But other than tha- I really don't think red and green are a crash hot combo. (Sorry Rabbitoh fans…<N.B International folk, that is a football reference that only Aussies may get>)
So I was *delighted* when I saw the theme for this month's blog hop, and had to get on it. So many beautiful colour combos.

Check them out- aren't they just a breath of fresh air?!

But I chose this one:

And here is a picture of my card- I didn't have any navy card stock, so I made some by rubbing my HA shadow ink Navy ink pad all over a white piece of card. I then clear embossed some stars, and gold embossed The Star in the corner. I gold embossed the sentiment from PTI's Beautiful Blessings: Holiday on a die cut panel of melon mambo card stock. I also heat embossed just the word 'peace' on some Rich Razzleberry card stock and cut it out and popped it up on a banner shape (hand-cut).

Some blue sequins finished it all off before I popped up the whole front panel on a black card base.

I am so happy with how this turned out

Gold dipped sentiment

Hi All,

it has been a while since my last post, but things have been a little crazy around here with me being really REALLY sick, and then my little girl catching it the following week (and her first ever treatment with anti-biotics *sniff*). And all this while I was in the early stages of pregnancy. And to top it all off, I heard on Tuesday that my latest scans showed that little bubby had no heartbeat. I guess it was all too much for our little angel to bear. I was 9 weeks along.

So, I've taken the rest of the week off to relax and come to grips with everything. I am doing well (so far…), and am grateful for all the women before me who have been open enough to relate their experiences with miscarriage. I am so grateful to know I am not alone. It's not an easy thing to talk about, but I think its important. Especially since we've just observed Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day on October 15.

Still, if there was ever a day for papercraft therapy, today would be it, don't you think? And so thats what I did :) It did relax me and cheer me up somewhat.

About 3 hours after I told her my sad news, I received a bunch of 12 long stemmed pink roses from my bestie Denise…So I think I'll send her this card.

I embossed a rectangle stitched frame die by Lil Inker's Designs into a white panel. I then die cut the word 'thanks' out of some watercoloured paper that I coloured with Distress Markers and spritzed with a spray bottle. I then dipped the bottom half of the word in Versamark and heat embossed it in gold
