A Shaker Card! and a VIDEO

Hello All,

Today I am sharing with you a quick shaker card, and a video to show you how to make one! This is a really simple shaker card, and although I have done a few things to jazz it up, the idea behind the shaker element is very simple and basic.

This card was heavily influenced by Danielle Flanders' card on her blog. Except I have shook it up some ;)

Here is the card

And here is a video taking you through the steps on how to create this card!

And here is the link incase the above video doesn't work for you

Faceted Love U Card

Hello papercrafting folk!

Hope this post finds you in the happiest of crafty blurfing (a term that I only just learnt. Blog-surfing apparently) I have had moment to create something this evening as hubby was at soccer and Eva went to bed on time, and I couldn't care less if we have to dig through a pile of clean laundry to find work clothes AGAIN tomorrow- so I got crafty!

I have been wanting to do the Virginia's View Shaker Card Challenge this month, but wanted an idea for a different kind of shaker card… So, I decided to think about it and make one when I had something somewhat novel.

And then when I realised that Lil Inker had a new challenge up- I knew exactly what I would do.
And here is my card:

Firstly, I apologise for the poor photo. I will probably re-shoot this and upload better ones when I get a chance to photograph them during the day- but I am working tomorrow and wont get round to it until later in the week, and I really wanted to post this! So here it is.

This card was a little tedious to make- but totally worth it! You first die cut about 5 cover up panels from plain ol' white cardstock. And using a craft knife, cut out all the lines within the heart shape that is 'hidden' in the design (isn't that fun?!).

Here is a demo of what I mean
Before:

After:

Then using one of them as a stencil, mask off the area around the heart using post-it tape and ink blend the aqua ink onto the main card base.

Now you can adhere all 5 cover up panels together to create the 'well' that will hold your sequins, and provide the support for the topmost layer of your card

Then you need to die cut the cover up die from gold cardstock and adhere that to a piece of acetate that measures the same if not slightly smaller than the panel.

Next, place a few sequins onto the middle of your inked heart and adhere the layered up 'well' and acetate/foil panel over the top.

I then used the Label Love set from Altenew to stamp the 'Love U' sentiment onto a bit of gold foil cardstock and cut it out and adhered it on.

Simple really. ;)

Here's a close-up of the shaker bit in the middle. I think this card is a bit of a 'how'd she do that?' number. The recipient will kind of be amazed that the sequins don't run off all over the card front and only stay within the blue heart. They'd probably also figure out the mechanism after about 30 seconds, but to begin with at least, it's pretty cool. At least I think so :)

And, although these photos aren't as bright as my usual ones, I kind of like them… They pick up the mood of late night crafting for me.

Hope you likey,

Preeya xo

**EDITED TO ADD MORE PHOTOS**

So here is a proper shoot of this card:

Tis quite pretty

And one for cuteness sake. She is using the 'rolly machine' on her 'card'.

Thanks people!

Custom Wedding Card

Hey Everyone,

Just chiming in with a custom made money-holder card for a friend who has a wedding to attend soon. I was told the couple's name and that they are of Indian heritage- and so I set to work.
Although Indian colours are generally a lot brighter and deeper, I decided to go with something a little softer. I still brought in some elements commonly found in Indian design by using gold and some scrolly florals.

So here is the card:

As you can see I made it a horizontal DL card. I heat embossed Altenew's Persian Motifs in gold and then lightly watercoloured the flowers using distress inks. I then die cut the names out of PTI's Headline Alphabet and adhered them on using a glue pen.

The inside features a blank card for my friend to write a message on, and then slide it into the money holder. I also stamped the entire inside of the money holder with various images form the Altenew set in Crisp Canteloupe ink

Hope you likey!

Crafternoon with my Nieces!

Hi all,

Just stopping in with a quick little post today- i will be back with some more later on in the week I promise, but I just wanted to share the results of a little crafty day Ihad with my nieces. All three of them are super talented crafters in their ideas and creativity, and yes- some of these cards were made with lots of supervision by me, and some were done completely by them!

So without further ado, here are some cards made by Miss Leah, who is 11.  Aren't they beautiful! Well done Leah for taking on that inlaid die cut technique and creating that orange and black beauty! And how about the inking huh?  She also created the stamped background on the blue and pink card.

These are by Divya, who is 8 (turning 9 soon)- And she was ambitious! She wanted to do shaker cards! I love that the littlest of the three girls always goes for the techniques that pack the biggest punch! She also had a great idea about giving the shaker cards to her family members (namely, the dog and maybe Mum) so that they never have to leave the house and she can keep them forever!
And how about the beautiful one in the centre- that was all her. So proud

And last but not least, these were done by Priya (yes, another one, although the spelling is slightly different) who is 12. She did these all by herself with no help at all. Look out people! How about that happy birthday one which used up all the negative spaces left from cutting out the shaker windows from the previous cards?! And the camera card was a collage of different sentiments that she found in my stash all put together to create her own custom sentiment.

And here they are altogether! Can you spy a Christmas tree card done by little Miss 2.5?

What a fun day- and the best part? They packed everything away before they went home. I am so proud to call these girls my nieces. They are super talented and I'd better look out…actually. They'll give me a run for my money very soon!

That's all for today folks!

HI guys,

Here is the very glam inspiration photo…

You can see why I had to play along. Yup. Gold.
Hehehe

So here is my card.

I ummed and ahh'ed with the composition of this but finally settled on this. I'm pretty happy with it. And I finally got to use that gold foil vellum from Stampin Up!

And sorry for the less-than-ideal photo. It is night. There are not enough hours left to link up for me to wait til the morning to photograph this properly

Hope you likey!

Many cards, many challenges!

Hey Everyone!
As you can tell, I have been on a crafty spree and have been spending many glorious hours in my crafty lair lately. A) Because I am on holidays and b) because the little one started daycare yesterday! Also, the cleaner has just been, and I have the fridge stocked up with lunches and dinners for a few days so… Craft time!

This first card is a special request by my darling Mum who wanted me to make a thank-you card for a someone called Dei. So I made this bright number that has been personalised to include her name in the greeting. This card is so bright and colourful. It makes me very happy.

The next card is something I have had in my head for weeks waiting and waiting for my Lil' Inker's shipment to arrive. I lie. I ordered it on Jan 7, and it arrived in Sydney Australia on the 14th… Just ONE week.Which is pretty much magic. Must be sorcery or something cause that is so super fast! Not complaining!

Anyway, I have been eyeing this set for weeks, and dreaming up things I could do with it. Of course the first thing to do is add a rainbow. So thats wht I did. With my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours. This was so easy to do, and looks so great. I am gonna make a whole bunch of these.
I am entering this card in the Virginia's View- A Clean Slate Challenge , the Never Before Used Stuff #3 (NBUS) and also at CASology

And for my last and final card for today- I am entering the Runway Inspired Challenge for the first time! This challenge is so fabulous in concept- I dunno what has taken me so long! Here was the inspiration photo

YA. I know. Stunning right. And so, I wanted to use my new Altenew and watercolour the heat embossed image using all those pretty colours in the jewels. I then masked the image and inked over the whole panel. I also splattered some perfect pearls over the front panel for shine and heat embossed the sentiment.

Are you still with me? Thanks for hanging around for this very long post!
Hope to see you again soon.

Congratulations- Scrapbook Boutique January Blog Hop

Hi All,
Today I am entering the Scrapbook Boutique Blog Hop and Challenge for the first time! I have wanted to play a long for the longest time, but for one reason or the other, always missed out. Not today!

Here is the delicious inspiration photo:

Love mint green, and I haven't used pearl anything in a while, so I was excited to give this challenge a go.
And here is my take on the inspiration

This card looks very pretty in real life, but is a bit of a shocker to photograph! So here are some more pics where I had to hold the card up to the light. It was the only way to catch that gorgeous shimmer.

I really love this look. it is soft and romantic for a wedding card (like this one) but can also be adapted for other occasions like a baby or even a sympathy card just by switching out the sentiment.

Well, hope you likey!
