Make it Monday #118

Hello All,

This week's PTI Make it Monday Challenge required us to create a postcard out of some photos that we may have lying around. Well, I found one of my daughter that we had taken when she was a newborn, and thought that this technique would be great to make birth announcements! It's a bit late now for our little pumpkin, as she just turned one, but creating this postcard just brought back so many lovely memories of those early days when she was so tiny and new and we just didn't know what hit us. In a good way, of course :)

So here is a link to the original MIM video by Ashley Cannon Newell

And here is my take:

We had this photo taken by the lovely Deanna from DImages- who I went to school with all those years ago, and when I was looking for a newborn photographer, was pleasantly surprised to be refered to her. And we sure weren't disappointed! Check out her page (linked above) for some major cuteness!

I added a sentiment from Baby Button Bits and also some extra flowers from Mini Blooms to  complement the flower in her little head band. Isn't she precious?!

And here is a picture of the back. Underwhelming I know- I just used a pencil to draw lines in, and then realised how dodgy they looked, but then couldn't find an eraser...So I apologise

That's all for now, everyone, thanks for stopping by!

And here is my take on the challenge. I apologise for the lighting, but it is 11:00 pm here in Sydney, and I just couldn't photograph this at any other time today :? Oh well! I enjoyed putting it together, and really look forward to participating in more CSC in the future. This was fun!

Thanks for stopping by, peeps :) Leave a comment if you feel inclined :)

PTI Make it Monday #117- Part 2!

Hey all!

OK, so I've already done a post for the MIM this week, but my mind was still going after I published my last post, and I thought I would make another card with a stamp set that lends itself really well to paper piecing- 'On My Couch'. So here is my second card:

So, here I used that little couch as is, although i thought I might paper piece the various cushions on the couch...but it ended up looking ridiculous with my patterned papers...so i just did the little cushion and the lamp and also the light from the lamp in a yellow paper. I have had this idea in my head for a few days now- glad to see that it looked alright in practice and not just theory.

OK! Thats about it for today. Thank you soooo much for stopping by :) I hope you have a lovely weekend.

PTI Make it Monday #117- Paper Piecing

It has been faaaar too long since my last blog post. Don't get me wrong, I love posting and sharing, but time seems to get away especially when you have a toddler. My little girl turned one on my 30th birthday the other day, and so we had a huge combined birthday party. We are still recovering from it, having all been struck down with a nasty cold as well, but I just had to sit and craft today. I have a ton of housework, but I always do- and so I decided to not give a hoot, and participate in this week's make it monday! Yay for me!

Melissa Phillips of Papertrey Ink shared with us the paper piecing technique shown here

Here is my take on the challenge

Here  is a close up of the paper piecing bit

This is a fiddly technique and not for everyone, but i really enjoyed doing it- I found all the fussy cutting quite therapeutic :)

That's all for today- I have runny noses to mop up... yes, plural!

Thanks for stopping by!
